Karl Wehner joined Alibaba Germany in June 2016 as Director, Business Development, where he is responsible for driving partnerships in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Eastern Europe and Turkey. Karl has over fifteen years’ experience in e-commerce and sales, having started his career in e-commerce at Amazon Deutschland in 1999. At Amazon, he was responsible for the launch of Amazon Marketplace in Germany and the launch of Amazon’s co-branded credit card, “Amazon Kreditkarte”. Before joining Alibaba, Karl successfully set up the 3rd party marketplace for takealot.com in Cape Town, now South Africa´s largest e-commerce company.
